How do I join WINGS?
You may join WINGS by making a donation of any amount. You may donate online or by sending a check to WINGS, P.O. Box 845, Northfield MN 55057. Once you donate, you’re automatically a member! To be a voting member, a donation of $120 or more a year is required. Voting members are eligible to vote each year on the potential grants put forth by the grants committee.

How much of a donation is required to be a voting member?
A voting member needs to donate $120 a year to be eligible to vote on potential grants put forth by the grants committee.

Do I need to be asked or invited to join WINGS?
No, anyone can join WINGS at any time by making a donation to WINGS. You do not need to know a member or be asked.

Are there any volunteer requirements?
No, there are no volunteer requirements. You can be as involved as much as you wish!

What events does WINGS host?
WINGS has two meetings a year: the annual meeting held in January and the grants celebration, typically held in June. Both events are optional to attend, but a great way to meet other women supporting women and youth in the Northfield area. Other fun events take place to celebrate special occasions and milestones.

What is the difference between the annual fund and the endowment fund?
The WINGS Annual Fund is a pool of donations that are given out each year to programs that support women and youth. Dollars from this fund are given out each year.

The WINGS Endowment Fund is a long-term investment strategy to provide a permanent pool of money that is invested to build for the future. A portion of the income from this fund is available for distribution to grants while the remaining balance is held to earn interest and grow over time.

What is the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation?
The Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundation acts as the WINGS’s fiduciary agent, or bank. The Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundation manages both the annual and endowment funds and provides advice, guidance and encouragement to WINGS.

How do I donate?

1. You may give online by credit or debit card or bank account through the WINGS secure online giving website. You will be connected to the St. Paul & Minnesota Foundation’s website who acts as the WINGS’s bank. You may choose to give to the WINGS Annual Fund or WINGS Endowment Fund.

2. You may also donate by paper check. Please include your name, address and phone number to receive a tax receipt and acknowledgement that it was received. Please make your check payable to WINGS and mail to: P.O. Box 845 Northfield, MN 55057

Can my employer make a matching gift?
As a nonprofit organization, WINGS is eligible to receive matching gifts. If you wish to make a matching gift, please check with your organization to find out the requirements and contact Treasurer@wings-mn.org.

How do I become a sustaining member?
Sustaining members help WINGS better manage its resources. Members can sign up to give one time annually or monthly. You can become a sustaining member no matter the amount you give. Please consider becoming a sustaining member when you make your online donation. Select “recurring” within the online donation form.

May I include WINGS in my long-term estate or financial plans?
A legacy donation supports WINGS in perpetuity by naming WINGS as a beneficiary in your will, trust, life insurance, charitable trust, etc. A specific amount or a percentage of your estate is donated to the WINGS endowment or annual fund. Members are invited to include WINGS in their will and/or estate plan through the WINGS Forever program. Learn more here.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
Contributions made to a 501(c)(3) organization like WINGS are tax deductible, meaning that—if you itemize—you can deduct the amount of your donations to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations from your taxable income.

What will appear on my credit card or bank statement?
Your statement will list the merchant name as St Paul Minnesota Foundation.
